Otmar Schneider is dead

Elisabeth mehn otmar schneider died on february 22. February at the age of 87. With the family and a large number of mourners, the mannergesangverein (MGV) liederhort said goodbye to a hard-working, helpful and companionable member of the village community, who was much appreciated for his helpfulness, his craftsmanship and not least for his dry sense of humor.

Worked as a fitter

Born in fridritt in 1931, otmar schneider grew up as the oldest of eight siblings. After leaving school, he learned the trade of a plumber and fitter in munnerstadt, and after a few stops along the way, he began working as a fitter for SKF in schweinfurt in 1959. He was employed there until he retired in 1991 after 32 years of service.

After marrying his wife rosa in 1958, the young couple moved to ebenhausen, and in 1968 the family, which had now grown to six people – three daughters and a son had been born – was able to move into their new home of their own. Now there was more time for hobbies, and in 1972 otmar schneider joined the ebenhausen liederhort singing society as a tenor. For 49 years he was active and at innumerable club celebrations with his wife rosa an irreplaceable asset.

Traces all over ebenhausen

For decades, otmar schneider was responsible for setting up the barbecue station for the roast meat and his wife for the plucked meat. Legendary were his skills as a tinsmith in the handling of metal. He leaves the traces of his activities all over ebenhausen, not only at the mannergesangverein.

Diamond wedding anniversary

In the last few years, he was in increasingly poor health and lost his eyesight. Towards the end of 2018, the family celebrated its diamond wedding anniversary and its 87th birthday. Celebrating his 70th birthday, but soon after otmar schneider died after being hospitalized for several weeks on 22. February 2019. He is survived by his wife rosa, four children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
