From the President

Wes Parker, 2018|2019 APICS Milwaukee Chapter President

Greetings All -

As predicted, 2019 has started strong with certification classes, professional development meetings, breakfast roundtables, and more! I continue to be very proud of the great work we are doing at APICS Milwaukee to serve our members and the supply chain community with quality content and globally recognized certification training programs.

In January we conducted CPIM Part I training and recently started classes for CPIM Part II and CSCP. We also had great participation in professional development meetings on topics from how to improve employee engagement to hearing updates from Foxconn executive, Dr. Mitchell. In February, we were proud to sponsor this year's Manufacturing Matters! conference that hosted over 500 manufacturing professionals and suppliers from the Milwaukee area.

In January we also conducted an educational survey and we received a great number of responses. Thank you for providing us with feedback on how we can best meet your educational needs! We will be leveraging your input as we shape our offerings for the remainder of 2019 and beyond. Based on your input, we are looking at offering new courses online and Supply Chain workshops during the day, in addition to our current offerings. If you missed the survey, please feel free to send me an email with your thoughts on how we can continue to improve our offerings.

Our breakfast roundtables have added company tours each month with the first being at Industries for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ivbi) and this week they toured Direct Supply. Both companies shared best practices from running their businesses and hosted breakfast. Here's the article we shared in February on the impressive work they are doing at ibvi:

This month we've got a free meet and greet scheduled on March 12th with our UWM APICS Student Chapter. We also have a professional development breakfast meeting scheduled for March 28th at Thermo Fisher Scientific. Space is limited so you'll want to register early to secure your spot!

Next month we will be delivering our newest Certified in Logistics, Transportation & Distribution (CLTD) training class.  CLTD focuses on learning the essentials skills necessary to succeed in global logistics management. Additional details will be posted on our website once we finalized the date.

Also, we have launched a new sponsorship program and are looking for companies to help us financially in our efforts to support the Milwaukee Supply Chain community. I've attached a flyer with more details on the various levels and benefits to your organization by becoming a sponsor. Please reach out to me if you are interested in this important program.

As always, I personally hope to see you at one or all of our upcoming events. Thanks for being a part of the chapter and supporting our efforts.

Best Regards,

Wes Parker
