January 2019
From the President
Wes Parker, 2018|2019 APICS Milwaukee Chapter President
Happy new year! We are excited as we look forward to 2019 and serving our members and the supply chain community with quality content and globally recognized certification training programs.
In the upcoming months, we are launching several instructor-led certification education programs outlined below. I'm especially excited to announce our newest Certified in Logistics, Transportation & Distribution (CLTD) training class starting on March 4th. We are also in the process of conducting a member survey to solicit your input on what programs and delivery methods would be most valuable to you. We appreciate the great response we've received on the survey to date and look forward to leveraging your feedback to make our programs even better!
We've also attached some flyers with additional information on each certification and which route would be best for you. If you already have one certification, you may want to consider another, since per the APICS 2018 Supply Chain Compensation and Career Survey Report, a research report based on over 2,600 U.S. supply chain professionals, found that holders of just one certification reported a median salary that was 19 percent higher than those who are not certified. Moreover, those with 2 or 3 certifications reported median salaries of 39 percent higher and 50 percent higher, respectively.
Q1 2019 Certification Training
- Certified Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) – Focuses on learning the essentials skills necessary to succeed in global logistics management. Instructor-led certification classes begin March 4th
- Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM Part II) – Offers in-depth education for individuals in the operations management profession who wish to improve their knowledge of production and inventory management. Instructor-led certification classes begin March 4th
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) – Ideal for professionals who are interested in increasing their knowledge and expertise in global supply chain management, and who are interested in consulting or facilitating supply chain functions or working with enterprise resources planning (ERP) systems. Instructor-led certification classes begin March 6th
We have some additional events happening this week and over the next couple months listed below. Click on the links to register and get more information.

January is half over and most companies have completed their annual strategic planning efforts. Great! Now what?
A brilliant strategy is only useful if it's deployed well. In my new book, It's All About the How, I outline a step by step approach to assist in the successful execution of strategies. As a consultant, I love to help turn plans into actions.
A key component to delivering your plans this year is to ensure they are adopted by your employees. Assuming your employees are aware of your plans, consider if there have been any complaints regarding a new initiative or process. This would certainly be one indicator of many that they have not adopted it yet and strategies without employee support are doomed to fail.
So how do you get them to support your plan? The good news is there are many ways to gain employee adoption. Come join us to learn three simple approaches you can begin implementing right away.

Advance Die Cast
3760 N. Holton Street
Milwaukee, WI 53212
Since 1920, Advance Die Cast LLC has been providing industry with high-quality aluminum die castings. As a hands-on privately-owned company, we have always provided our customers a one- on-one relationship and the willingness to go the extra mile. It is this uncommon level of responsive, personalized service and support that has always set Advance Die Cast LLC apart from the competition.
DIE CAST ADVANTAGES
The North American Die Casting Association (NADCA) lists five specific advantages and benefits gained by specifying diecast parts.
High-speed production
Die casting provides complex shapes within closer tolerances than many other mass production processes. Little or no machining is required and thousands of identical castings can be produced before additional tooling is required.
Dimensional accuracy and stability
Die casting produces parts that are durable and dimensionally stable, while maintaining close tolerances. They are also heat resistant.
Strength and weight
Die cast parts are stronger than plastic injection moldings having the same dimensions. Thin wall castings are stronger and lighter than those possible with other casting methods. Plus, because diecastings do not consist of separate parts welded or fastened together, the strength is that of the alloy rather than the joining process.
Multiple finishing techniques
Die cast parts can be produced with smooth or textured surfaces, and they are easily plated or finished with a minimum of surface preparation.
Simplified Assembly
Die castings provide integral fastening elements, such as bosses and studs. Holes can be cored and made to tap drill sizes, or external threads can be cast.
