From the President

Hello APICS Members!

Last week we had the last Plant Tour of the APICS 2016-2017 Year. We toured Hydro-Thermal in Waukesha.  Hydro-Thermal is the global leader in the development and manufacturing of steam heating solutions.  Their patented heating system mixes steam and process liquids while delivering precise and consistent temperature, instantaneous heating, without scaling or fouling of the product.

Prior to the plant tour we were introduced to the Hydro-Thermal history, to their current manufacturing and business objectives.  We had several presenters, including the CEO, Plant Manager, Operations Manager and Safety Manager.  They all shared one theme: they are very proud of their company, their history of innovation, their products, and above all proud of their work force especially their engineering expertise.  They have many patents and industry awards; they also have a very impressive safety record, and equally impressive manufacturing facility.

The tour showcased the manufacturing facility, some of their product assemblies, their test lab and manufacturing equipment.  The tour was followed by a gathering at Thunder Bay Grille for dinner and networking.

For the last month of the APICS year we have two (2) Breakfast PDMs and the last evening PDM, which is our Top Management and Chapter Awards Night.  As is our tradition, this is also “bring your boss for free.”   The evening will be capped by a presentation by Lucas Vebber of Wisconsin Manufacturers Commerce; where he serves as General Counsel and Director of Environmental and Energy Policy.  Mr. Vebber will provide insight into the state of Wisconsin manufacturing, economy and future trends.

I hope you can join us for this event.  As always, I am looking forward to connecting with you at the PDM.

Tere Eckrose, CSCP, CPIM

President – APICS Milwaukee

In Case You Missed It........

We had enthusiastic turnouts for our interesting and informative tours at both Thermo Fisher as a replacement for our Breakfast Roundtable n April 12th and at Hydro-Thermal on April 26th.

Our hosts at Thermo Fisher, including Chapter members Amal Audi, Christine Campbell, Don Fischer, Syed Raza, and the rest of their team, provided a very well-executed tour sharing all of their LEAN tools in action. Attendees were very impressed.

After a pre-tour presentation by the Hydro-Thermal management team, we experienced a well-organized and impressive plant tour.  The networking and dinner at Thunder Bay Grille was also a success!
