January 2017 Print

From the President

Hello APICS Members!

We made it!  Another year has gone by, I hope that it was a very successful year, both personal and professionally.

The New Year is full of excitement and possibilities.  We start with a clean slate.  Will this be the year we work towards that Professional Certification we have been thinking about for a while?  Will this be the year we decide to give back to our community and get involved in volunteering?   Will this be the year we lose those pesky five pounds that we cannot shake loose?  Will we do all of the above?  That is the beauty of the New Year, the possibilities, the what ifs, the blank slate.

Whatever you do, I hope APICS is part of your 2017 plans.  We still have a lot to offer, you could volunteer with the Board of Directors and shape the direction the Chapter will take in the future.   We could help you with your professional development.  The January PDM will introduce Bob Collins, CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP, CLCP.  Bob is the Senior Director of Professional Development for APICS, as such he is responsible for certification and non-certification courseware and the APICS Instructor Development Program.  Bob will discuss the latest APICS Certification CLTD (Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution).  The February PDM topic is Continuous Improvement.  The March PDM is a plant tour of Beyond Vision.

The Milwaukee Chapter is part of the APICS Great Lakes District.  The District will conduct the Third Annual Student Job Fair on Saturday, February 18, 2017, in Downers Grove, IL.  Please visit the Great Lakes web site for additional information ( if you are interested in this event.

For those of you who could not join us for the December event, I must tell you, you missed a fun night at The Thirsty Duck; we enjoyed games of duckpin bowling, networking, camaraderie and of course, food and drinks.

I hope the New Year fulfills all your wishes.  I know that personal time away from work and family is very limited, we truly appreciate the time you choose to spend with us sharing your professional experiences.

As always, looking forward to connecting with you at the next PDM.

Happy New Year!

Tere Eckrose

President - APICS Milwaukee

Next PDM Event

Join us on Wednesday, January 25th for speaker Bob Collins, CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP, CPLP from APICS National office.

Are you a Supply Chain, Operations or Logistics Professional? Do you want to move up in your career, help your company in tangible ways? What could your employees do for your company if they had targeted training in inventory management, planning or production control. What would reducing inventory while increasing customer service and satisfaction do for your bottom line?

APICS is the global leader and premier source of the body of knowledge in supply chain and operations management, including production, inventory, materials management, purchasing, and logistics.

Our membership is growing, our certifications are the most recognized and successful in our profession and we’ve just added a new major certification (Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution), which has already had a huge uptake.

Come hear a former APICS volunteer and trainer turned APICS Staff member.  Bob will give you the inside scoop on how APICS has grown and changed to better serve supply chain, operations and logistics professionals, and to help them enhance their careers and increase their worth to their companies.

BOB COLLINS, CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP, CLCP is the Senior Director of Professional Development for APICS. Collins is responsible for certificate on and non-certification courseware and the APICS Instructor Development Program (IDP).
