Item Writing Workshop in Chicago on August 8-9, 2014

APICS certification programs are recognized worldwide as the standard of professional excellence in operations management. Our exams are developed by item writing committees that represent experts in the fields of inventory production and supply chain management.

Workshop details

This two-day item writing workshop is facilitated by one or more representatives of the certification committee. Attendance for both days is required. The first morning of the event will be focused on the item development and validation procedures and item writing guidelines. Time will also be spent reviewing and evaluating a few sample items. Participants will write and critique items. Representatives of the CPIM examination subcommittee will be present to help the item writing volunteers.

You will spend the remainder of the time writing additional items and working in groups to critique and improve on the items written by the members of the group. APICS will reimburse participants for travel expenses up to $100 per person. Breakfast and lunch are included on both days.

Participation Requirements

  • You must have a current CPIM, CFPIM or CSCP designation.
  • You must commit to participating in both days of the workshop.
  • You must write a minimum number of items.
